[Heathkit] Heathkit Digest, Vol 95, Issue 20

My two cents worth....
The manual came with every Heathkit product and Heathkit authorized the owner of
the kit the right to use the manual and the information contained within the
manual. I consider that to be an implied license to use the manual. When the
ownership of the kit was transfered to a third party I believe that implied
license is transfered as well, even if the physical manual could not be located.

I also beleive that copying the schematic and alignment procedures to study and
educate yorself falls under the "fair use" doctrine.

Just my views ....

Looking for a schematic and a technical description of the Heathkit HW-18-1 CAP
single band transceiver.  Anybody know where I can get a copy?  Want to explore
possibility to convert to 60 meter ham band.

73,
Sandy W5TVW

I once copied a VHS tape with my VCR, the FBI never caught me in-spite
of the warnings.

penalty of law.

Ah yes.  The ubiquitous material tag.

All that "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law" really means, is that it
cannot be removed PRIOR to sale.

Once you buy it, you are free to remove it whenever you please!

They have to print that warning simply so the "vendor" can't sell
something without the buyer having the opportunity to KNOW what all
materials are used.

This allows the buyer to determine if the materials are suited to them.
Such as to ensure that they do not buy something they are allergic to.

I've always found it to be a laugh!

Just thought you all would be interested in my latest adventure with
this DX-100B...

A previous owner had replaced the dual-fused plug with a 3-wire
grounded polarized plug and cable, and a fuseholder on the back of the chassis.

Yes, he did wire up the power cable so that the neutral side of the
power cord is fused, and not the hot side.

And yes, I did discover this the hard way.  :-(
