Hi Dave,

So far all the flames and unpleasantry must be in private emails as I
don't see anything in the digests. The most important factor is
ownership. The unit is yours!. You can rebuild it any way you like or
strip it for parts. I think you will be able to learn a lot by making an
updated, solid state version out of it. Let us know how it goes as you
progress. I have one of those here that actually works *AND* it is setup
on the I.F. frequency of my old Kenwood Twins. If it fries I may be
building something like you have in mind, too, and maybe with the LCD
screen somebody else suggested.
