Kevin:

Ford has a two-way radio installation guide downloadable from their web
site. If you can't find it, I will e-mail it to you. I don't have
experience with the Edge, but in general you will want to avoid routing
power and antenna cables near the vehicle computer. Observe proper
grounding. Stay away from the stubby broadcast band antenna; I suspect
that it contains a preamp that could get fried by too much RF.
Regarding interference to the HF radio, the main source of EMI in Ford
vehicles (at least in the Explorer, with which I have experience) is the
fuel pump located in the fuel tank. Current models, like the Edge, may
have better filtering.

You might look for an owner's forum on the www; something like
"www.myfordedge.com". For example, the Explorer forum has a ham radio
sub-forum that covers radio installations.

                     73,

                     Bob WB2VUF
