[Heathkit] Tech Tips: Should I Post Them?

Duane,

If I may interject my $0.02 worth...

I'm rather new to this list, but I joined the list for
specific questions about Heathkit. My SB-1000 to be
precise. I belong to many other topic-specific lists.
Most of the time, non-topic related messages are not
all that appreciated by those who joined the list for
the topic of the list. This one being Heathkit. Others
may have joined because of a general interest, say for
instance in vintage radios or tube radios, and may
appreciate cross-topic posts more.

On the other hand, if the nature of the tech tip is
relate-able to Heathkits, such as soldering/de-soldering
techniques, tube handling, capacitor reconditioning,
making inductors, rebuilding band switches, that sort
of thing, then by all means post them.

While I applaud your willingness to share your experience
and your collection of tech tips, unless they have a
direct connection to Heathkit, I would rather see them on
their own list, or posted on a web site somewhere with a
periodic mention on this list that you posted X new tech
tips to your tech tip site. Then the list is not populated
by off-topic (maybe that is too harsh, how about
non-Heathkit?) topics, but those who choose to do so can
visit your repository. I'm sure I will be one of them.

Bottom line is I think topic-specific lists should try to
stay on topic.

No offense intended, I am eager to see your tech tips,
but not posted directly to this list.

Thanks for reading, and thanks again for your interest in
sharing your experience with us!
