I dunno. For the first time I received a vintage radio in a wooden
cabinet which was broken. I no longer purchase bakelite radios
for that reason. People just won't pack 'em properly, even when it's
discussed beforehand.

This is the first time I've seen a small wood radio broken. The wood
itself was broken, and the case was in three pieces.

Rest assured that you are not the only one who has encountered
this problem. using insurance unfortunately isn't a help (at
least with USPS) b/c they still charge you the shipping (yes,
they charge you to break your equipment) and keep the equipment.
So, as in the Star Trek episode "everything is as it was", oh,
except you are out the shipping, which can be a considerable fee.
Also, they won't do anything about it if the packing was, in their
opinion, inadequate.

We feel your pain.
