A friend asked "why is there a rectangular cutout in the rear of some SB
line cabinets"?
I confessed to not knowing the answer to that one.
Now I am curious. Why did Heath pre-punch that hole like a knock out? What
is it for?

Hi Paul
I am not sure if this was intended for a single use or not but my second
hand SB101 came with the 9 way rectangular connector mounted on a simple
bracket and wired up to connect to an SB500 transverter. There was also a
blanking plug to reconnect the SB101 PA screen grids to their supply in the
event that the transverter was disconnected. There is no mention of it in my
SB101 manual but the instructions are there in the SB500 manual. Five of the
nine pines are used for that purpose.
