I have had one for years as well. About eight years ago I to noticed a
change in the measured value of the load. I am lucky enough to be working
for a High Power Supply manufacture and took the Cantenna to our high
voltage dept. They removed the oil and cleaned the can and resistor
assembly for me. Inspection found that the strap clamp holding the two
glow bar resistors had failed. So I made a replacement from some thin
copper foil that we use in winding high current transformers. I also
reflowed any and all solder joints. With fresh oil( Exxon High Voltage )
in the can the load reads 49.5 Ohms, close enough for me. So may
suggestion would be to clean the resistor assembly and check all the
solder connections and hardware.
