If it were me, I wouldn't replace the meter unless yours not working.  The 
iron vane meter heath originally installed works just fine.  why change it. 
when you do you reduce the value of it and I think it detracts from the fun 
of operating the original as such.  My AT-1 is all original except for 
replacing the pwr supply caps and is much fun.  Don't expect much beyond 
five to seven watts out by the way.  Although the manual and original 
advertising would suggest differently!  Van, K7VS  (AT-1 was my very first 
kit which I built 1954!)
