[Heathkit] WAS Dumb speaker question NOW SB-303 tweak

I thought we were talking about a Heath SB-301. The Heath RX-1 Mohawk is different from basically any other receiver in the fact that there is an i.f. gain control in addition to the "normal" r.f. gain and audio gain controls. The RX-1 normally has more gain and therefore is more sensitive than most receivers. In fact, there is often too much gain and the i.f. gain control has to be turned down to keep from overloading the receiver. I have both an RX-1 and an SB-301.

A good signal generator will not have any appreciable leakage. Unfortunately, there are a lot of inexpensive signal generators out there that seem to have more signal through the cabinet than out through the coaxial cable!

I know I do the comparison either by signal generator - OR move the coax from the antenna from the RX-1 to either the FT-101B or perhaps a TS-820S.

That way I do not have to start down the "how much RF leakage" am I getting from the Signal Generator path.
