Thanks Gents, for the helpful feedback on the vintage tuner question..
Yes, Bruce, I agree with you on the SB line colors.. that's why I was asking about finding a tuner with the two tone green instead of the black/gray on the SA2040 and 2060. I'm a bit surprised that Heath apparently did not produce a tuner in those colors during the 1970's.
I was aware of the little AT-1, circa 1955 and the companion AC-1 antenna "coupler" but a huge gap appears from that point until the next antenna tuner which appears to be the SA-2020(1981). This bypasses the Gray/Green SB-100, 101, 200, 301, 401 etc. era entirely.
According to Heathdates http://www.tech-systems-labs.com/heathdate.htm , a few years later Heath put out the HFT-9 (1983) and the SA-2060 (1989. These latter models abandoned the Green/Gray of the SB-100 series and look more like the latter SS-9000 (1983) and SBS-1400 (1991)
I especially appreciated Chris' input about "maxi-tuner".. I'll keep my eye out for that one on Ebay.
In answer to Gene's comment: "since the FCC chairman became my next door neighbor?" Actually, just an old ham interested in collecting and restoring vintage equipment.. that's who! Some of it's posted here: http://mysite.verizon.net/halo.net/
Bob's mattress tuner sounds interesting.. and I really don't need one on the new Windom I just put up... however, a little green/gray tuner would look nice sitting between the SB-twins.
Thanks again for the comments..
