[Heathkit] DX-40 Transformers?

The DX-35 is the worst followed by the DX-40.  Both the DX-20 and DX-60 series do not have the problem.

Evidently the DX-40 is prone to destroying transformers.  Is the DX-20 also prone to this problem?  How about the DX-60?  And, are there options to replace broken transformers?
