[Heathkit] HW-18-2

[Bill Kuhn]

CW is a primary mode for me.

My Heathkit doesn't have WARC bands, so I can't escape to non-contest HF
bands.

VHF doesn't excite me.

8 weekends are guaranteed eliminated for me so people can be
intentionally rude and selfish. More weekends are screwed by various
other international/DX contests. 

If that is what amateur radio is about, just let me know. That isn't
what I got into it for.

Enjoy getting to the head of the line at your nearest Best Buy for Black
Friday sales early tomorrow morning. Same mentality as contesters.

Interesting upsidedown view of reality.  Major contests take up 8
weekends 
out of 52.  The rest of the time seems to me to be mostly arguments, 
deliberate QRM and just about anything else that is against the Amateur
Code 
including super power ego trips. You wont find the 10-20KW + operators
in 
contests for very long if at all.

I havent operated a contest in about 12 years but Ive never had a
problem 
finding a band to operate on. Of course that may mean some will have to 
learn CW...
