I wouldnt bead blast any thin sheet.aluminum. Crushed walnut shells is a 
milder media that works well and is readily available at low cost.

The chemical strippers rarely get into the perforations completely and leave 
behind a ragged mess. Finish off with lacquer thinner and a small file to 
clean the holes.

Then rinse completely with lacquer thinner, wipe down with a clean rag, keep 
your cotton picking fingers off the metal, spray a thin coat of self etching 
primer, and your top coat of choice.
