[Heathkit] AT-1 question

A couple of years ago at the Radio Club of Tacoma I saw a guy modifying a modern 100W RICEBOX to work on 11M.
As well as holding a ham ticket this guy was a commercial radio tech. He knew it was illegal.

Know a guy used to run his DX-100 on 11m when it first opened. Quite an upgrade from the Heath lunch boxes, International Crystal and EFJ Messengers
Wall to wall and treetop tall 4 sure good buddy

Good question, but I wouldn't want to have to argue it before a tribunal, easier and less costly to comply. I'm glad I asked the question before operating, and thank you all for your replies. Was just a little excited after having completed the work (I think) and need now to go back and brush up on the rules.
Imagine if VFO's were allowed on 11 meter...... the trucker would get them !! Then they'd be bleeding all over other frequencies, harmonics, etc. and things would be messier.
Tubes Rule !!
3's to ya, and have a Great Day !!

Where does it say that? As long as you are on the right frequency, who cares?
That said, the VF-1 is not likely to be very stable. Do your work into a dummy load.
