If the "LMO load" is not plugged into the LMO socket on the back of the receiver, you will get such a problem unless the receiver is connected to either an SB-400 or SB-401 transmitter (all 3 RG62/U cables). The "LMO load" consists of a 47 ohm resistor soldered across an RCA phono plug.

I also have an SB303 problem I hope someone can help with. tuning the lower end of any band the signal breaks into pure noise. Upper end is just fine. Even swapped the pto with another sb303. Same results. Opened up the pto and attempted to clean it out but no luck. Other than that it works fine.
