Getting a off Heathkit topics, but for those that need/ want a converter can
check out the US government coupon website:

https://www.dtv2009.gov/

I tried to order a coupon a few months ago by answering honestly that I have
cable service. I didn't get a coupon. I just received my Comcast cable bill,
and the price is going up $3/ month AGAIN. I reordered a coupon stating no
service, as I plan to dump cable. Maybe I'll get satellite, but I'll see how
well the converter box with an antenna works. I hear the digital signals come
through over the air better than analog (up to 90 miles away?), so being near
the East Coast I might get a reasonable number of channels without a service.

We've seen the same kind of thing here. The antenna thing has been a real
boon to a bunch of people. People spending hundred of dollars here to
replace an antenna that should work just fine. I've a friend that is a
chief engineer for one of the TV stations and he's buys into every one of
these things that comes along. I think that he told he his station spent
almost a third or a million bucks preparing for the millennium changeover
scare (remember that?)that never happened.

Ron....

Not necessarily true.....

With the use of a digital to analog converter you can use ANY TV even when
the conversion takes place. All you will need is either channel 3 or 4
analog capabilites or a analog A/V input.

The big scare on digital conversion is WAY overblown. No more different
than subscribing to cable where you have to have a cable box, samo-samo.

Even my antique Philco, 10"round CRT (circa 1954) set works fine on new
digital stations with use of the box. (missing a few colors, hi)

Not sure if this is a Zenith or not, it is a GR-271, with GRA504-21 and
GRA227 remote control kit.
