[Heathkit] Heath DX-100--What is one worth??

Hello Kim,
First, what model is it, the original DX-100 or the DX-100B?
The price depends on a number of factors.
1. Does it work? (powers up, no shorts, no blown fuses, no smoke, and transmits at full output on all bands)?
2. Have there been any modifications done to it? If so what mods were done?
3. Have the power supply filter capacitors been replaced? If so when and with "NEW" or "NOS" capacitors? Remember, the DX-100 or the DX-100B are well over 50 years old and the power supply filter capacitors have long since dried up and should be replaced. Original NOS capacitors are just as old as the original capacitors so be careful.
4. What is the physical condition of the cabinet, front panel, knobs (all original knobs included, none broken), chassis etc?
If the seller is local you should visit him so you can see the transmitter. If it works, have him power it up and put it on the air or into a dummy load with a watt meter so you can see the transmitter work in both CW and AM. Check it on ALL bands.
If the seller is not local, have the seller take pictures of the cabinet's all 4 sides, the top and bottom of the chassis, and pictures of the transmitter operating.
This may seem a bit much to ask of the seller but remember, it's your money.
A DX-100 in very good physical, electrical, and operating condition may bring $225 and possibly as high as $250. In average physical, electrical, and operating condition, $175. In poor overall but operating condition, I wouldn't pay more than $100.
A DX-100B in very good physical, electrical, and operating condition may bring $300 and possibly as high as $350. In average physical, electrical, and operating condition, $225. Poor overall but operating condtion, I wouldn't pay more than $125 for it.
If the seller is not local and it has to be shipped, be prepared to pay a lot for shipping. Both DX-100 and DX-100B weight 107 with the cabinet and that's without packing.
Those are my thoughts, others may think differently. My idea of very good, average, or poor condition may not be the same as yours or others.

Hi Gang!!
I have a chance to get a DX-100 and was wondering what the value of the
thing would be worth?? I'm not sure on the cosmetic shape yet, but I
figured I ask the gurus here first before I consider it.
Thanks loads!!
