The 313 is a variation of the 303, the solid state, final ham receiver 
of the SB line. 

Heath made it because it's 95% SB-303, just aimed at a different 
audience.  It's unfortunate that they did not put a flip lid on the 303 
and that they went with the wrap-around cabinet.

It would have been interesting to add a plug in crystal bank and make an 
SB-3X3 that competes with the 75S receivers.    The LC front end would 
be a little different but it could have been done.  The 500 kHz tuning 
range compared to the 200 kHz of  Collins.

The 313 came with a different AM filter from the optional SB-303 
filter.  It's a full 5 kHz wide.  The 303's optional filter is 3.75 
kHz.   For SWL work, and 75 Meter AM, the 313 is the better receiver.  

Both have stronger than average audio amps but you may have to replace 
some capacitors to get the old sound back.
