Yes. I don't really think you NEED an amp with the DX-100.
Besides, the DX-100 puts out way too much power for the
SB-220, and especially for the Thunderbolt.
If you could crank the drive level down, you MIGHT be able
to use the SB-220 at about 375 watts input, but that would
only be about 4 db difference in signal level output, or 1.5
"S" units at the receiving end.
Hardly seems worth the trouble.
I'll bet that if you try the HQ-180/DX-100 (barefoot) together,
you will be quite pleased with the results.
I would give them a try that way before I would think about
an amp.
And then if I really decided that I NEEDED an amp, I would
build one along the lines of that one that Pete mentioned: a
4-1000.
