I like two contests: 1) Field Day, and 2) the Bruce Kelly 
Memorial Antique Radio Rally in which all transmitters have 
to be built according to 1929 or earlier designs, and MUST 
use tubes available in 1929 or earlier. 5 Watts input, days, 
10 watts at night. 80 and 40 meters.

Receiver is your choice, but REALLY...ought to be a 
detector and 1 step. :-)

Great fun!

There are still quite a few tubes available which were 
available in 1929 or earlier. 211, 865, 45 come to mind.
