The filament pin re-solder is quite easy.  Use good electronic silver solder
and a small torch.  I have done that several times with Eimac and Taylor.

The cause is usually the pin (or pins) getting too loose or getting stuff on
them so they do not make good contact.

There is a way (W6SAI coveded this in one of his columns) to break the grid
plate short in some tubes.  Its not for the faint at heart.  I saved one in
three older 3-400Z's that way.
