[Heathkit] Quick update on HW-101 checks

I pulled the HW-101 back off the shelf, having
finished my HT-40 restoration. I Simply ran through
the normal operating tuneup on 80 - 10, and I was
surprised to get 100 Watts out on 80 - 15, plus at
28.2 and 28.7 MHz. I had not done a full check last
week after replacing the V3 with the Daystrom 6AU6; I
just noticed a power increase on the high bands, and
then went ahead tried to neutralize according to the
book.
Now, neutralization is still off, especially bad on
10. What is strange is that before I could get only
25 or 30 Watts out on ten, and now I get 100-plus,
without advancing the drive control fully CW. If I do
that, I get an indicated 300mA plate current. That
probably has something to do with the really bad
neutralization on 10.
Since something may have changed with simply putting
the rig away, and then setting it up again, I'll also
check the board-to-board connections, and those
"fingers" on the driver board.
I'm going to call around locally and try to locate two
of the 12 Volt versions equivalent to the 6146A that
Glen mentioned in his last email. Any particular
brand I should avoid? I guess the Heathkit manual no
longer has much meaning as to brands for finals.
