[Heathkit] Amp Keying

Around 60ma at 125VDC. Way too much for any SS switching in a xcvr and even
for small relays used in some 80's xcvrs.
Ive not opened up SS relays but they probably use a fet. The problem is that
they are not good at most RF frequencies and are biased hard on/off which to
my way of thinking will cause all sorts of non linear crud to be generated.
To say nothing about their VSWR characteristics.
I use a Dow-Key transfer relay at 1500W on 2M and I can barely hear it over
the blower noise (; On higher bands I use Transco units.
Now I have to find my old Dow Key with contacts to use with a Viking I and
HQ129X for the Ayem station.

I'm sure someone knows this. What current does the relay need in the SB-200
and SB-220? With all the discussion, it would be interesting to know if
someone has measured the current requirements of the relays, as I'm sure
someone has?
Also, the solid state relays have been mentioned. I've not used one. Do
these behave like regular relays so that the difference in voltages (DC,
negative switching on the SB200, positive on the SB220) will make no
difference to the relay? It acts just like a contactor?
Thanks in advance...
dennis
