I agree, for what the SB rigs cost and the time invested in building them,
they were darn good radios. I've bought and assembles two complete SB
series stations. Hot off the design bench, I purchased the SB100 and all
it's accessories. It was sold some years later after working much DX and
many rag chew QSO's. That was replaced by the SB104 series and all it's
accessories. Again, a fun project to build and it provided many contacts.
>From my ham beginnings in the late 50's I've always dreamed of owning a
Collins S-Line,......... but could only afford the SB's. Well some 40 years
later I finally have a beautiful Collins S-Line sitting on the desk. But I
have to say, the Heath TX-1 and RX-1 are still my favorites for AM.
