[Heathkit] converted SB-230 troubles

HI all, 
I converted my sb-230 to a pair of 572b's several years back and today I got
an overtemp indication and shortly afterwards the 40uf 150 vdc electrolytic
on the diode board fried.  Now when I turned off the amp the fan for cooling
the tubes and the filaments of the tubes stayed on.  Could this be and
indicator of a transformer gone bad?
