"Relay" or "Electronic" switching, a feature which evolved mainly for the CB
radio market. It provides for an RX ground on one wire (usually black in the
"American" color code) to enable the reciever. Leave the switch in the R
position for typical ham gear. There should be a schematic inside the round
cover plate on the bottom of the base, or Google will turn one up if it's
missing.
