Pete brings up a good point.

I bought a bunch of radio books from a used bookseller last year. When I
oipened one up the original copy of a guy's FCC First Class Radiotelephone
license fell out. I thought that was pretty amazing until my wife returned
from a charity thrift store. Shewas browsing through their used books and
actually found a crisp $100 bill. Now she's got an ethics choice to make!
She could buy the book for 50 cents and make a cool $99.50 profit, or...

As we are believers in karma and "that which goes around, comes around," she
brought it to the clerk's attention (who probably stuck it in her own
pocket. At the very least my wife felt it would be more in line with the
mission of St. Vincent de Paul to treat her $100 find as a donation, which
it wasn't because it clearly was an accidental windfall.

The amazing thing is that the clerk DID NOT EVEN THANK MY WIFE. What a
creep. Oh well, karma...

The point of my story is this: Two years ago I had the distasteful task of
breaking down my deceased parents' household. I found money stashed
EVERYWHERE. When I was telling this to a friend of mine he shared similar
experience when he cleared out his deceased parents' home. I also know
people who willy-nilly went in to their deceased parents' homes and
bulldozed everything...right into the trash or had charities come haul
everything away. If you find yourself involved in the painful task of
dismantleing someone's home, GO THROUGH EVERYTHING before donating or
discarding.

I've found letters/envelopes in some, letter dialogues
>between customer and equipment manufacturer, cut out newspaper articles
>from the 30's, 40's, 50's, coupons from places that no longer exist, and
