No, you phrased it just fine. The active circuit I posted was the best I
could come up with in about 5 minutes of Googleing.

Transmission line theory applies here. The cable has to see 75 ohms at each
connection point, or you get standing waves. That makes it a little bit more
complicated. More time with Google should turn something up.
