[Heathkit] Almost a Heathkit.

The other week, I stumbled onto the Bitx20a site,
<http://qrpkits.com/bitx20a.html>

The Hendriks kit is a board, manual, and bag of parts based on a design
out of India. 10 watts of SSB on 20 meters, 4 pole crystal filter, VFO
control, sensitive receiver.   $82.

In many ways, it's what I've wanted. It's a basic radio on a popular
band using modern but not too modern parts.

I've been restoring and refurbing Heathkit SB-303's and also have a
couple SB-102's and a 104A on my to-fix list. Radios from that era,
before VLSI, before microprocessor control, seemed to be the last of the
real radios.

I have tube radios but tubes seem antiquarian to me.

The yahoo site for the radio is, <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BITX20/>
you do have to join to read the discussion.

The Hendricks kit reminds me of the HW-32, except it costs less.

Check it out, let me know what you think.
