It may just be that the heterodyne oscillator coil is out of alignment. 
Output drops off very rapidly on one side of the peak. Crystal aging can 
send it off down the slippery slope. Check for cold solder joints on the 
crystal pins and try adjusting the het. coil before replacing the crystal.

On belts, you can sometimes find the correct "O" rings at traditional 
hardware and auto parts stores. The size you want is #226 (1/8 x 2.0) or 
  #227 (1/8 x 2-1/8).
