The drive belts are O-rings available at auto parts stores. Yes, dial
cord is better but a pain to install and calibrate.
I concur, it looks like a bad crystal. I have a HW-101 here waiting for
me to get around to reconditioning it.
I could pull the rock out of it and send it to you as a test before you
buy a new one. However, the shipping would probably be as much as a new
crystal.
