I came across this bit of rhyme I wrote in 1962 while transfering files
tonight. I thought some of you might find it amusing, especially if you ever
operated the legendary Heathkit Twoer lunchbox. You have not lived until you
work two meter AM with this baby! The first QSO i ever had was on one at the
Shack of my high school friend, Mark Decker, K8UZJ. (SK in 1996) What great
memories. Some Hams swear they knew when their buddy a quarter mile or more
away turned on his Twoer, as he got interference on his RX as the noise
floor rose! And he had not even transmitted, this was from the reg circuit
alone! Want to get even with an obnoxious neighbor, get a Twoer and have at
it! Nothing is immune!

Before me sits my Heathkit Twoer,
The antenna is its stinger.
Should I use this copper meat skewer,
Or bend this old coat hanger?
Polarity, which one to use,
Vertical or horizontal?
Its spectrum looks like rainbow hues,
The splatter is monumental!
Its amplitude modulation,
But transmits at low power.
The neighbors share their aggrevation,
When you wipe out their family hour!
This lunchbox has no food inside,
The range is your next county!
A kit you built from plans supplied,
Pure fun, no mutiny on this bounty!
It came from Benton Harbor,
To a landfill it shall go,
No headstone or fancy arbor,
For RF leaks kill all that grows!
Yes the Twoer is a legend,
On two meters it was the King.
More fun than you imagined,
This lunchbox had real zing!
