[Heathkit] SB-200

There are at least 4 possibilities for those who claim
more than about 700 watts output from the SB-200 (at
80 meters):

#1 They are really abusing the tubes (and the power
supply as well).

#2 The calibration of their wattmeter is off (this is
not that uncommon).

#3 They are "stretching" the truth.

#4 All of the above.

Now I can get an "honest" 600 to 650 watts out of my
Heath HA-10 Warrior (four 811A tubes) on 80 meters.
But, that drops to around 500 watts on 10 meters at
the same power input. When I had an SB-200 I
routinely got at least 650 watts to 675 watts output
on 80 and 40 meters. This dropped to between 500
watts and 525 watts on 10 meters.

There are a couple of people who are converting the
SB-200 for 6 meters only who claim 750 watts output.
Could be if everything is peaked for the 50.0 MHz to
50.5 MHz range and 1200 watts input.

Of course the difference between 600 watts output and
800 watts output isn't going to make a "hill of beans"
difference at least 99% of the time on how well the
other station is going to copy you. BUT, it sure
makes a difference on how long the 572B tubes are
going to last.

Now I sure would like to obtain another SB-200 to
complete the re-creation of my third primary station
(SB-301, SB-401, SB-200). However, since I am on a
fixed income (Social Security disability) there is no
way that I can purchase one. Therefore, would have to
trade. Also would like to find a Collins 30L-1 linear
to finish off my S-1 station. Same thing, need to
trade not purchase.

I have the SB-301, SB-401, SB-600, and SB-630. All
work fine.

In any case, 800 to 900 watts output with all
parameters as originally set is not really possible,
IMHO.
