I have purchased from there before and am very pleased with the price, the 
delivery and the service in case I receive a defective tube.

As to replacement of the 5R4 with solid state devices, I don't suggest doing 
such.  The solid state devices will have consistent forward resistance and 
thus overall regulation will suffer.  The 5R4 device will have higher 
resistance at lower current values and lower resistance at higher current 
values thus regulation is improved.  Also the power supply is a capacitor 
input filter system and the solid state devices will cause excessive high 
voltage to be present.
