All that is true.  The other thing I can recall like it was just yesterday
is simply taking the first deep whiff of the freshly opened box of parts.
My first Heathkit was a V-7A around 1957, my last was a frequency counter in
the late 80's (both of which I still use), and there were a lot of Heathkit
boxes to open in between :-)

I suppose there are those who would museumify the unbuilt kits.  I'll leave
that to the curators -- I'd rather build them.

Absolutely.  I wonder occasionally if building an Elecraft would have the
same "feel" to it, but somehow I don't think so.
