I was just wondering if after we SB-104(A) aficianados update the mixers with SBL-1 mixers or HP quad diodes and the Band switch diodes with PIN diodes and tweak the 2N5109 values and feel we have optimized the frontend .....how about adding a SoftRock40 IF at 3395Khz at the second mixer and run that over to your computer sound card as a Software Defined Radio. You have all the advantages of a panoramic display and DSP which is infinitely better than the receiver you have today. Tuning remains the same and keep the transmit function as-is (mess with the audio quality ...some ...maybe). But you would have a receiver which would match or exceed any on the market today. Might even find a use for the older "G" cards.
Anyone tried it yet ? Sounds like a good winter project to me.
