The left hand bits should work, and they're widelya
available.  I recently helped my daughter by removing
a screw from the hard drive compartment of her laptop
that way.  Home Depot, Ace Hardware and True Value
Hardware have matched pilot hole drill bits/reverse
threaded "easy outs" in many sizes.  She was able to
explain to the Home Depot guy what she needed, and all
I had to do was the 2 minutes of work to get the screw
with the stripped Phillps screw head out.
