Hello All,

I have received requests for assistance in posting to this list from a
number of you over the past three weeks. Far more than is typical. A few
things to keep in mind.

1. If you are a subscriber to AOL, they use their own mail client. It tries
hard to not get along with other software! (chuckle) All the QTH.NET lists
do now, and have always, used 'plain text' only! AOL uses their own peculiar
kind of 'html', and it is rejected. You need to find the web site that AOL
has that allows its subscribers to post using plain text, no html and
multi-part alternative formats. Asking the tech support people for help,
well, good luck! Most do not even know this web site option is available, so
getting help from them may be a 'non-event'.

Perhaps AOL subscribers on this list who are posting without issues will
share with us how they are doing this?

2. The QTH.NET lists have always been plain text. Be sure your mail client
is set for 'plain text', no html and no 'multi-part alternative'.

3. If you are getting rejections, check the head field for the reason. The
returned message does indicate the reason why it was rejected. Often this is
because you have phrased something seen as 'spam' or used a banned word,
seen as 'spam'. Trademark names are common reject reasons, as are certain
countries in Africa.

4. If your post looks 'too' commercial, it may be rejected as spam. The
trigger phrase or word can be in either the 'subject filed' or main body of
the text.

5. The QTH.NET lists do now, and have always, rejected posts that have an
attachment. Such as a photo. This is a security measure, it prevents viruses
from being attached and delivered to list subscribers.

If you send a post with an attachment, the post will either be trashed or
the attachment stripped out and the rest of the post delivered.

6. You must post from the same e-mail account that you subscribed with!
Attempts to post from a different account will be rejected! That is, if you
have a dbf at 123.net that you subscribed with, are at work using the account
of dbf at abc.com, it will fail. The system checks incoming addresses against
subscriber account addresses, no match, no post.

Have fun!

Duane Fischer, W8DBF
