If you have the original and it is shorted here is a
"trick" that worked on my original DX-100 HV
transformer.
I removed it and then placed it upside-down on one of
the electric stove burners in the kitchen (made sure
my wife was out of the house for a few hours). I
"cooked" it until the tar melted (was really "runny").
Then I removed the transformer and let it sit for
about 24 hours until it had cooled down and the tar
again solid.
This "fixed" the short. I put the transformer back in
the transmitter and it was still working when I gave
it away to one of my employees about 10 years later.
If this "fix" doesn't work, you have only spend a few
cents for the power to run your stove! It is
definitely worth a try.
