Operating from memory as I am on the road:

Patents were given out in 1933.

I believe it was July 18, 1939 when the Alpine, New Jersey station went
online.  The original band was 41 Mc. To 50Mcs.  

After WWII, the band was moved to 88 to 108 Mcs.
