[Heathkit] SB-301, SB 401

Not a crazy idea based on the construction of the rigs.  Over time the board
to chassis ground deteriorates creating weird problems. Also, if the
constructor made any mistakes or weak points you can correct them  I
wouldn't go with a 301 and recommend a 303 instead. It's a much better
receiver and extremely sensitive if you back off on the antenna attenuator.
Audio is clearer too.  The thing to watch out for the SB series is the
frequency readout and it's related large and small plastic parts.  Out here
in Arizona I see alot of heat-warped dials that require shimming the front
panel out of the way with a couple of small washers. I run a 401/303
combination that is in fairly good shape but they still require work from
time to time.  Anyway, good luck
