I built an HR-10B, when I was 11 or 12 years old. I saved allowance and  lawn 
cutting money for it ($69.95 as I recall). There was a pre-assembled  section 
(supplied in it's own separate cardboard box) that went underneath the  
chassis. I still have the unit. The only mistake I made was not putting the  spacer 
plate between the s-meter and panel, so the needle tended to rub.  Thinking 
back, I'm amazed that I could have build this, and have it work, at  such a 
young age!! My great uncle (a Ham) aligned it for me, but  I assembled it by 
myself. Testimony to how good the Heathkit  Company was at preparing kits for 
assembly by the masses.
