Hart - Congratulations on getting a very fine Heathkit amplifier.  I have one.

I'll answer your second question first.  Did you get a manual with your
purchase?  If not, it should be advised to get one.  As with most gear it is
recommended that a manual be procurred.  Original manuals, though not common,
can be found.  There are many fine reproduction vendors also (copy of the
manual).  In the manual there are extensive directions on tune up.  I'm not
going to describe them here.  So, please get a manual.  In addition, the manual
will describe the cables needed to hook the amplifier to your exciter.

Now, first question...I don't know what exciter or main rig you are going to be
using that will utilize this amp.  But, normally, no inline tuner is necessary
for most operations.  This is assuming there is nothing wrong with the
amplifier.  On the output of the amplifer a tuner may be needed depending upon
what kind of antenna setup you will be using.  Without more information, it's
hard to totally answer this question.

When you have a manual and look it over, most of your questions should be
answered.
