[Heathkit] SB-200 Problem

Thank you Woody. It appears that a few here dont understand that I was only
trying to offer sound advice.

As far as the "engineering study" is concerned this was covered in depth on
the Amps Reflector several years ago and included engineers from Alpha and
Ameritron. My professional amplifier backround goes back to National Radio
where I was on the NCL2000 development team. I was also a consultant to Amp
Supply and B&W when they had some reliability and instability problems. I
personally have been building amps since the 1950's and currently have an
amp repair and upgrade business.

Bottom line is that if Measures voodo was soo good why hasnt it been adapted
in industry? In truth, even Eimac engineers have spoken out against it.

Step start is a good idea in some amps, however not necessary in the Heath
SB series. Those transformers were designed to limit inrush current,
especially the SB-220 filament xfmr.

Keeping filament voltage within spec is mandatory for long tube life.
However be sure you are using a true RMS meter and not a peak reading
version as is common in cheap multimeters.

Nuff said. If the whiners cant be bothered to learn something its no skin
off my back.
