[Heathkit] HW-16 audio troubles

Hi Tom et al;

Something we used to do at Motorola, when I worked there, for ground
loops: as long as the radio is being grounded some other way, put a
ground breaker in the AC line. This is just one of those adapters that
come with some appliances that takes a 3-prong plug and outputs a 2 prong
plug and a separate ground wire. Intended to be used with older 2-slot
outlets. Leave the ground wire disconnected. I had to put one on my
satellite receiver to take the hum out of my stereo. The satellite
receiver was grounded by both the AC cord and the coax. Good luck.
