I used "Simple Green" (?) on a SB-610 and a garden hose and it worked great. 
My nose is shot but it made it look good.......JR  K7PUR

409 has also been known to attack plastic surfaces such as meter and dial 
covers. I screwed up a SB-301 that way and had to polish the meter and dial 
cover with tooth paste to buff out the damage. A real pain in the ....!

409 is ok for covers but not for insulators. I washed a J-38 key base with
it and
it was useless for grid block keying after that. A friend told me that 409 
was
heavily ionic. I'm not a chemist so maybe someone can verify this.
