One thing about many hams is that they are incapable of adapting to the
march of technology!
Any time an amp comes in here for service and the owner has added obsolete
and/or junk science across the diodes I rip them out.
However back in the 60-70's the caps and resistors were certainly needed.
This is analagous to someone who still insists in using 30W Non detergent
oil in his antique car simply because it is specified in the owners manual!
