Hi All,

I have a Heathkit Twoer, the HW-30. Now you know I am totally blind, keep that
in mind, as I am going to have to speculate on some measurements. I removed the
cabinet to locate the transmit xtal. As you face the rear of the chassis, it is
on the far left side.

The crystal socket is not flush with the chassis, as some told me it should be.
This one is up about 3/8 inch. What is plugged into it is not an ordinary
crystal in size or shape. It is perhaps 3/4 wide by 3/16 thick by just over an
inch in height.

The other HW-30 I have has a standard size and shape crystal plugged into this
socket.

Do any of you know what this is? Is it some mod somebody did, if so, for what
purpose?

I used an Icom 275H transciever with speech output to find the TX frequency,
which is 144.235 MHZ. Isn't this in the SSB part of the band and not the AM?

This HW-30 has had the factory RCA jack for the antenna replaced by a BNC
connector. Which I understand was one of the many mods done.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
