Dear Mr. Pacho:

I can't speak for Duane, but I seriously doubt he intended to offend any Spanish speaking 'ham operator' gerbils, and he likely didn't know any would be reading this reflector. Certainly I didn't! What a surprise!

I try to avoid offending skunks, racoons, or coyotes (not the kind that carry illegals across the Rio Grande, but the 4-legged kind that catch cats) no matter what language they speak, which would probably be a mixture here in the southwest. It is understandable how gerbils could be so very easily offended, as all they have to do is walk on that darned wheel. Well, that and take naps. And eat, of course. (I have no idea what gerbils eat, whatever language they speak. Steak? Burritos? That's probably what they'd eat if they lived with me, as that's what I eat and I'd feed 'em table scraps.)

I missed any reference Duane may have made to Spanish speaking humans, if he did indeed do so. You certainly drew a lot of unsubstantiated conclusions based on a comment about gerbils. How did that get to Jews and Blacks? Are there Black and Jewish gerbils, too?

I did learn something, though. Gerbils are extremely sensitive. I had not known that.

By the way, congratulations on being multi-lingual. When I went to France, I learned French. Figured that was what I was supposed to do in a foreign country, (lke you learned English when you came to the US) since I was living there. Learn the language of that country. Not all that great at Spanish, but I get along on trips to Mexico, which saves me having to find a Mexican who speaks English. Of course, if I moved there (for some odd reason) I'd spend a lot of time learning a lot more Spanish. Here in the USA, naturally, I tend to stick pretty much to English.

Please apologize to your gerbil if anything here offended it.

Duane B. Fischer: As a latin that speaks spanish and english, and moved to the USA
in 1927, I object to your reference,of hams operators that speak other lenguage .I
can imagine your private comments about the black americans and the jews. Again I am
sorry for you, that are only able to speack only one. Yours truly can also speak
Italian and Iindonesian. How sorry I am ,that a person with a such limited culture
can direct as net.
