There was an article in QST just about this TX and this subject about June / July (?) last year. The author had a copper plating company re-plate the chassis and sub panels etc and then found a water soluble clear varnish to coat them with. If you can't find article I'll dig up the particulars and e-mail them to you.

I recently picked up a restorable DX-100. The copper plateing is pretty
discolored and doesn't clean up well. I think I'll take it down to the
chassis and start with replateing the coating. Anyone have experience with
that or suggestions?

I could use a manual also if someone has an extra copy.

Your inputs will be appreciated.
